Subject:  New Assurance Testing System Questionnaire Process Coming for Tax Year 2022

Attention: Software Developers and Transmitters

Beginning September 25, software developers will initiate Modernized e-File (MeF) Assurance Testing System (ATS) questionnaires electronically by accessing their e-Services account and submitting questionnaires for each form they are testing.

To complete the questionnaire, the software developer must:

  • sign into their completed e-File application
  • select the Software Packages tab
  • select Add Software Package
  • complete the Add Software Packages pop-up
  • select Save

The system will then automatically issue the software identification number for that package. Note: The software developer needs to complete this process for each software package.

Software developers will continue the testing process with assigned e-help desk assistors. Existing developers will continue to receive initial contact emails from their assigned e-help desk assistor at the start of testing. New software developers who did not participate in testing last year should contact the e-Help desk at 866-255-0654 when they are ready to test.

As we approach September 25, additional information will be shared in a subsequent quick alert and on the MeF Assurance Testing System IRS.gov webpage.
