Issue Number:  2018-01

Please consider joining @IRSnews in support an IRS effort on Thunderclap to spread the word about the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). EITC helps millions of working families across the nation and in your local area, but the credit is routinely overlooked by many eligible recipients. If you or your group is interested in spreading the word about EITC, please sign up and Thunderclap will automatically post one message on your social media account on Friday, Jan. 26 at 1 p.m. EST.

Here's how to sign up for the #EITCAwarenessDay Thunderclap:

  1. Open  http://bit.ly/2D2FlXR  (https://www.thunderclap.it/projects/66692-eitc-awareness-day)

  2. Click on "Support with" … Facebook, Facebook Page, Twitter or Tumblr
  3. Authorize Thunderclap to post a one-time message on your social media platform by clicking on the "Add My Support" tab.  You'll need to input your social media username and password.

This message will then go out automatically at 1 p.m. EST Friday on your Twitter, Facebook and Tumblr marking EITC Awareness Day:

"On #EITCAwarenessDay, help #IRS put money in the pockets of working Americans who are eligible. http://thndr.me/7qYUfl"

The link takes you to the IRS EITC resources webpage (www.irs.gov/eitc). This week, the IRS is issuing several EITC news releases and tips aimed at Americans with disabilities, Tribal and rural communities, military families and disaster victims. These news releases will be available at www.irs.gov/newsroom as part of EITC Awareness.

Thank you for your consideration and continued partnership.
