IRS.gov offers tax help in a variety of languages

IRS strives to serve to all taxpayers, no matter where they live, their background or what language they speak. To help fulfill that goal, the IRS translates tax information and provides help to taxpayers in many commonly spoken languages.

IRS.gov has tax information in seven languages. Taxpayers can simply select their preferred language from the dropdown menu at the top of the page. Currently, they can choose from:

  • Spanish
  • Chinese Traditional
  • Chinese Simplified
  • Korean
  • Russian
  • Vietnamese
  • Haitian Creole

IRS's Languages page offers tax guidance and information in even more languages. For each language, it has information on topics like:

  • The Taxpayer Bill of Rights
  • Filing information for individuals and businesses
  • Payment options
  • Refunds
  • How to get tax help

Interpretation services
If taxpayers can't find the answers to their tax questions on IRS.gov, IRS offers help in more than 350 languages with the support of professional interpreters. For assistance in Spanish, taxpayers should call 800-829-1040. For all other languages, taxpayers should call 833-553-9895.

IRS assistors will be able to:

  • Provide an interpreter over the phone.
  • Schedule the taxpayer an appointment at one of IRS' local Taxpayer Assistance Centers so they can get help face-to-face. Local offices provide assistance only on specific topics.
