1.  Important filing season information


Child and Dependent Care Credit can help families, others
The IRS issued a filing season reminder that those taxpayers who pay expenses for the care of a qualifying person while working or looking for work may qualify for an important tax credit.

Voice and chat bots
The IRS announced it has begun using voice and chat bots on two of its specialized toll-free telephone assistance lines and IRS.gov, giving taxpayers with simple payment or collection notice questions to get what they need quickly and avoid waiting.

Low Income Taxpayer Clinics
The IRS Low Income Taxpayer Clinic program office announced that its 2022 Publication 4134, Low Income Taxpayer Clinic List is now available.

New features available in IRS Online Account registration
The IRS announced improvements in the registration process to ensure privacy and security.

Penalties and interest
It's not too late – taxpayers should file and pay taxes by April 18, 2022, to avoid extra charges. The video Avoiding Interest and Penalty Charges provides more info.

3.  IRS hiring more than 5,000 positions in Austin, Kansas City, Ogden


To help serve taxpayers during this challenging tax season, the IRS is hiring more than 5,000 positions in its service processing centers located in Austin, Texas; Kansas City, Missouri; and Ogden, Utah.

The agency is hosting both virtual and in-person hiring events.

4.  Interest rates increase for the second quarter of 2022


The IRS announced that interest rates will increase for the calendar quarter beginning April 1, 2022.
