Subject:  Forms 941 Series COVID-19 Related MeF Business Rules and Schema Changes

Attention: Software Developers, Return Transmitters and Authorized IRS e-file Providers/EROs

Software Developers and State organizations may access and download the 941 Series Changes document named "MeF 941 COVID Updates TY2020" from their e-Services mailbox.

This document provides a detailed overview of COVID-19 related Business Rules and Schema changes for the 2020 filing season beginning with the 2nd QTR. We do not anticipate major changes between this document and the official change pages and schema packages, which will be provided as soon as they become available.

To access this document, you must have an active e-Services account and be listed on an e-File application with the provider option of Software Developer or State. The Software Developer provider option must have an associated tax type of 1120, 1065, 1041, 990, 1120POL, 940, 941 or 94x.

You may have more than one message in your account. Please open all of them to find the document you would like to download. Messages remain for 30 days then are purged. If you have the appropriate role and do not have this document available for download in your e-Services mailbox within 48 hours, please contact the MeF Mailbox at mefmailbox@irs.gov with the Company Name, ETIN and document name.

Please visit the Modernized e-file (MeF) Schemas and Business Rules page on IRS.gov for more information about MeF Schemas and Business Rules.
