Subject: Assurance Testing System for Form 8975 and Form 8975 Schedule A for Tax Year 2016 opens June 18, 2017.


Four new Assurance Testing System (ATS) scenarios which include Form 8975 and Form 8975 Schedule A will be available on IRS.gov starting June 5, 2017. The scenarios are for Forms 1041, 1065, 1120 and F1120S.

Software developers are strongly encouraged to participate in the voluntary ATS testing for TY2016 beginning on June 18, 2017. Testing for those using this new form will be mandatory for TY2017.

Tax Year 2016 Schemas and Business Rules updates were available through e-Services accounts on May 19, 2017. These updates included the Form 8975 and Form 8975 Schedule A for the following forms:

  • Form 1120 TY2016v4.2
  • Form 1120S TY2016v4.2
  • Form 1041 TY2016v4.2
  • Form 1065 TY2016v4.2
  • Form 1065B TY2016v4.2

Before you start testing, please contact the e-help desk at 1-866-255-0654 and let them know you will be conducting voluntary ATS testing for Form 8975 and Form 8975 Schedule A.

For form specific questions refer to the Form 8975 Country-by-Country Report (CbC) Instructions (draft) and the CbC web page for additional filing requirements and special rules and guidelines for completing Form 8975 and Form 8975 Schedule A.
