Subject: Transmitting returns for Authorized IRS e-file Providers

ATTN: Transmitters

As a reminder, transmitters must ensure they are only transmitting returns for Authorized IRS e-File Providers using an Electronic Filing Identification Number (EFIN) that is assigned to the provider.

Transmitters should request information from the Authorized IRS e-File Provider to confirm the EFIN is active and assigned to the provider. Failure to validate that the EFIN is assigned to the provider may result in sanctions, including the inability to transmit.
