IRS online services make doing common tax tasks easier
Businesses, taxpayers, and tax professionals are encouraged to use IRS online services, available through IRS.gov, to complete common tax tasks faster and more securely. Business taxpayers can take advantage of secure online tools available on IRS.gov to manage their federal tax responsibilities more efficiently. Eligible business taxpayers can use Business Tax Account to view balances, make payments, access tax records, authorize users, and manage certain business tax obligations. IRS Online services also offer access to options like Individual Online Account for taxpayers and Tax Pro Account for tax professionals. IOLA and TPA, like Business Tax Account, allow users to control, view and manage their own tax information. Even better IOLA and Tax Pro Account can work together. Other benefits of IRS online services include:
- 24/7 access
- Time savings
- Secure access
- Faster service
- Convenient payment options
- Paperless options
- Improved account management for business
- Reduced need to contact the IRS

Guidance on expansion of Paid Family and Medical Leave credit
Treasury and the IRS are providing new guidance to help businesses, particularly small businesses, and claim the expanded federal tax credit for paid family and medical leave under the Working Families Tax Cuts. The changes include:
- Permanent expansion of the credit
- Broader eligibility for employers with part-time workers and employees with at least six months of service
- New option to claim credit for insurance premiums as well as wages paid during leave
These changes encourage businesses to offer up to 12 weeks of paid family and medical leave and give employers clearer rules for claiming the enhanced tax credit. See the news release for details. Back to Top
IRS transitioning to a new Information return e-file system
After the 2026 filing season, the IRS is retiring the Filing Information Returns Electronically system and transitioning to the Information Return Intake System. IRIS is a free web-based system that doesn’t require special software and it’s available to businesses of any size. Beginning filing season 2027, IRIS will be the only IRS system for filing information returns electronically. Users must switch to IRIS for the 2027 filing season. Digital Authenticated Tax Compliance Report now available
IRS now has a digitally authenticated Tax Compliance Report. This provides business taxpayers with a secure, verifiable way to demonstrate their federal tax compliance to third parties and reduces the risk of fraud and document tampering The benefits of this tool include:
- Authenticated and secure. Each Tax Compliance Report includes an IRS-issued digital certificate that confirms its authenticity.
- Built-in verification. Verification features are embedded directly in the downloadable file.
- On-demand access. Business taxpayers can access and download their report at any time through their Business Tax Account.
- Standardized assurance. Each report includes the same authentication and verification features.

Disaster tax relief available for Nebraska and Washington
Below is information about recent disaster related tax relief granted by the IRS.
- Businesses and individuals affected by wildfires in Washington and Douglas County Washington that began on July 31, 2026, now have until Feb. 1, 2027, to file various federal business and individual tax returns and make tax payments.
- Businesses and individuals affected by wildfires in Nebraska that began on June 9, 2026, now have until Feb. 1, 2027, to file various federal business and individual tax returns and make tax payments.
- Businesses and individuals affected by wildfires in Nebraska that began on May 16, 2026, now have until Feb. 1, 2027, to file various federal business and individual tax returns and make tax payments.
- Businesses and individuals affected by severe storms in Nebraska that began on May 15, 2026, now have until Feb. 1, 2027, to file various federal business and individual tax returns and make tax payments.
- Businesses and individuals affected by the Pressey Fire in central Nebraska that began on April 22, 2026, now have until Feb. 1, 2027, to file various federal business and individual tax returns and make tax payments.
- Businesses and individuals affected by wildfires in Nebraska that began on March 12, 2026, now have until Feb. 1, 2027, to file various federal business and individual tax returns and make tax payments.
The IRS automatically identifies taxpayers located in covered disaster areas and applies filing and payment relief. But affected taxpayers who reside or have a business located outside the covered disaster area should call the IRS Special Services toll-free number at 866-562-5227 to request this tax relief. The Tax relief in disaster situations page on IRS.gov has the most recent information for taxpayers affected by a disaster. Back to Top
