| Issue Number: Tax Tip 2026-16IRS Individual Online Accounts: An easy tool for taxpayers The IRS continues to take steps towards transforming the taxpayer experience in several ways. All taxpayers are encouraged to create an IRS Individual Online Account. While this is not a new tool, users are able to access their tax account information securely online and to help protect against identity theft and fraud. Anyone who can verify their identity may create an account. Once established, it's important that the taxpayer be the only one to log into their account. With a focus on improving the taxpayer experience and supporting timely filing, wage and income transcripts for 2025 are now available on IOLA - weeks ahead of the typical late-March timeframe. These transcripts are especially helpful for taxpayers who have moved, changed jobs or misplaced their documents. In some cases, a transcript may not populate and a message of "No record of return filed" may show. This is because the IRS has not received the data from the employer. More information:
