IRS reminds employers of February 1, 2021 deadline to file Form W-2 Employers must file Form W-2 and other wage statements by February 1, 2021, to avoid penalties and help the IRS prevent fraud. The IRS recommends e-file as the quickest, most accurate and convenient way to file these forms. 3. Get ready for taxes: Steps to take now to make tax filing easier in 2021 The IRS encourages taxpayers to take necessary actions this fall to help file federal tax returns timely and accurately in 2021. 4. Special deduction for cash donations made in 2020 Special $300 tax deduction helps more people give to charity through cash donations made before December 31, 2020 – even if they don't itemize. 5. Messages on fraud from Chief of Criminal Investigation James C. Lee and IRS Office of Fraud Enforcement Director Damon Rowe In recognition of International Fraud Awareness Week, the IRS is highlighting the many successes in combating fraud and protecting taxpayers. As part of a continuing focus on tax compliance issues, the IRS created the Office of Fraud Enforcement to support IRS efforts to detect and deter fraud while strengthening its national fraud program. 6. National Tax Security Awareness Week: Security Summit urges businesses to tighten security to protect against identity theft The IRS, state tax agencies and the tax industry warn businesses to enact the strongest measures possible to protect their data and systems.
